Bangladesh Scaled Diaries Sample, March 2019

In July 2018, MFO and SANEM began to roll out a new round of data collection for the Garment Worker Diaries project. We started with about 200 workers and scaled up to over 1,300 workers by the end of 2018. We will be collecting data from those workers throughout 2019.

The map below shows the distribution of the sample of garment workers as of February 18, 2019. The shaded circles are the approximate center of neighborhoods where the workers live, with a different color representing a different region: Dhaka city, Savar, Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Chittagong. You can click on the shaded circles to see the name of the neighborhood, the number of workers in our sample living there, the number of interviews we have conducted with them, and the number of rent payments, purchases of food on credit, and salary receipts they have reported to us. The orange dots are the locations of factories identified in the Open Apparel Registry.
